Nongonoccocal Urethritis
Nongonoccocal urethritis is not related to human papillomavirus, which causes warts and verruca.
Diagnosis of this infection is usually done on males with a urethral smear or with a first pass urine specimen. This is an inflammation of the urethra acquired by sexual contact. Chlamydia trachomatis is the commonest cause of NGU accounting for 30-50% of male cases.

Some other causes include ureaplasma urealyticum, haemophilus vaginalis, and mycoplasma genitalius. Several types of germs cause NGU, the most common and serious is chlamydia, very common in both males and females. This is an infection of the urethra that is caused by pathogens (germs) other than gonorrhea. Nongonoccocal urethritis is not related to human papillomavirus, which causes warts and verruca.
